Global specialty (re)insurance group Chaucer has appointed Angus Milgate (pictured) as head of distribution. In his new role, Milgate will focus on strengthening key relationships and creating opportunities for growth.

Milgate brings three decades of industry experience to the position, having held roles in major broking firms both in London and internationally. His most recent position was with McGill and Partners.

“We are very pleased to have Angus joining us at Chaucer,” commented group chief executive Richard Milner. “His energy and collaborative mindset will help drive the delivery of our strategy and provide business opportunities within the market.

“I’ve been very familiar with and impressed by Angus’ work for many years. I am delighted that he will be bringing his skillset, market knowledge, and his wealth of international experience to Chaucer.

Milgate will be reporting to Nicola Stacey, Chaucer’s chief underwriting officer, and is set to join the company in October.

“We are delighted to welcome Hayley as Chaucer’s new group chief operating officer,” Milner noted in June. “Her strong operational background, and considerable experience will be key in ensuring we maintain a fully optimised operating model across every aspect of the group.”

Spink was chosen to succeed David Bendle, who is retiring at the end of 2024 after 22 years of service.

Baker, meanwhile, was brought on board following Chaucer’s tie-up with Gabriel and Merrill Herzog to roll out an active assailant product for the US market.

“Chaucer’s political violence team is renowned for providing market-leading coverage across various PV risks, including terrorism, strikes, riots, civil commotion, and other crisis management solutions across all continents,” political violence & crisis management head Harriet Sharp highlighted in August.

“Adding Alex to our team underscores Chaucer’s commitment to enhancing our offerings and expertise in this critical sector.”
