AIA New Zealand (AIA NZ) has named Luke Longney as its new chief technology officer.

Luke Longney’s career

Longney (pictured), who has been with AIA NZ since 2021, initially joined the company as head of technology – digital and later advanced to the role of head of technology experience. In these positions, he led initiatives aimed at improving digital user experiences and enhancing the security of both internal and external applications.

He holds an MBA from the University of Auckland and has over 20 years of experience in technology and commercial roles.

Before joining AIA NZ, Longney worked at Vodafone, where he spent time in both New Zealand and Qatar. While in Qatar, he was part of the leadership team that grew Vodafone’s business from a start-up to a NZ$$1 billion enterprise.

Upon his return to New Zealand, Longney became a member of Vodafone’s executive team, where he led a digital transformation focused on customer experience improvements, driving digital sales, and streamlining operations.

AIA NZ CEO Nick Stanhope said that Longney’s extensive background in digital transformation and technology makes him well-suited to lead the company’s digital strategy.

“We’re aiming to deliver the best possible online experience for our customers, advisers, and partners, as well as our employees that support them,” Stanhope said, emphasising the company’s focus on delivering better digital experiences across its platforms.

AIA NZ’s new vitality coach

In another leadership change, AIA NZ announced the appointment of Bianca Bettini as the newest AIA vitality coach.

She has held various roles at AIA, including event manager and executive assistant positions, and is also a certified Pilates instructor.

Bettini will work alongside Aaron Gilmore to increase the visibility and perceived value of the Vitality program among clients and distribution partners. Her background in health and wellness aligns with the program’s mission to encourage healthier lifestyles.

She takes over from Katie Hunter, who is on parental leave.
